Rumbur Valley, Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

A young Kalash girl wears traditional robes embroidered with cowries and beads. The Kalash are indigenous people of the Hindu Kush mountain range. The majority of Kalash are polytheists; they strictly adhere to their traditions and tend to live in Kalash-centric enclaves in the Chitral District of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. They are said to be the descendants of Alexander the Great.
